A design-led service from CG Building & Restoration Ltd

Internal and External Repairs to Grade II Listed St Oswald’s Church, Oswaldkirk, North Yorkshire

Elevation Repointed Rotated

CG Building & Restoration Ltd was appointed to carry out internal and external repairs to the Grade II* listed Church of Saint Oswald, King and Martyr in Oswaldkirk, North Yorkshire. This sensitive conservation project required traditional materials, specialist craftsmanship and careful coordination to protect the historic fabric of the church.

Internally, lime render repairs were completed, followed by lime washing to maintain the building’s breathability and preserve its historic character. Several wall‑mounted memorials were carefully removed, taken away for specialist repair and restoration, and reinstated in new locations within the church to improve layout and long‑term preservation.

Externally, areas of stonework were repointed, and selective stone replacements were carried out using lime mortar to ensure compatibility with the existing masonry. These works strengthened the building envelope while maintaining the church’s architectural integrity and heritage significance.

This project highlights our expertise in Grade II* listed church conservation, lime render and lime wash repairs, stone masonry restoration and heritage refurbishment across Oswaldkirk and the wider North Yorkshire region.
