We were appointed by our private client to deliver re‑roofing works and internal alterations to create a new kitchen, dining space and sunroom at this beautiful Georgian family home in York.
Working alongside York‑based architect Paul Butler, the ground floor was reconfigured to form a large open‑plan kitchen complete with bespoke units. A single‑storey glazed sunroom was added to the rear of the property, clad in black aluminium to create a contemporary contrast against the traditional Georgian stonework. The extension included a GRP roof, two large aluminium rooflights, new windows and bi‑fold doors opening directly onto the south‑facing gardens. A new black aluminium glazed link was also constructed between the entrance porch and the main house, with full redecoration to the ground floor areas where works were completed.
The main house was re‑roofed using new terracotta quarry tiles, and new aluminium guttering was installed across the entire property. The loft space was allergen‑proofed, including a full environmental clean and installation of hypoallergenic polyester insulation to support the client’s specific health requirements.
Externally, a new Indian sandstone patio was laid to the rear of the property, surrounding the sunroom and creating a clean, durable outdoor surface that complements the new extension.
