CG Building & Restoration Ltd was appointed to carry out re‑roofing, structural repairs and external refurbishment works to a vacant Grade II listed retail property in Market Place, Malton. The project required sensitive conservation techniques and careful material selection to preserve the building’s historic character while upgrading its external envelope and improving long‑term durability.
Works included render repairs, lime re‑pointing to all elevations, roofing repairs and replacement, and refurbishment of existing guttering and rainwater goods. Previously installed plastic rainwater goods were removed and replaced with cast aluminium to provide a heritage‑appropriate and long‑lasting solution.
Further repairs included window refurbishment, plastering, joinery and full external decoration. Abrasive cleaning was carried out to previously painted surfaces to prepare them for new finishes, ensuring a clean and consistent appearance across the façade.
Doors and windows were repaired, re‑sealed and redecorated, and concrete paving was removed and replaced with more suitable materials to improve drainage and visual appeal.
This project demonstrates our expertise in Grade II listed building refurbishment, re‑roofing, lime work, rainwater goods replacement and external conservation repairs across Malton and the wider North Yorkshire region.
