Renovation and Extension Works to Grade II Listed Farmhouse and Cottage, Brawby, Near Malton

CG Building and Restoration ltd

CG Building & Restoration Ltd was appointed as Main Contractor by a private client to carry out renovation and extension works to two neighbouring dwellings in the village of Brawby, near Malton, North Yorkshire. Working alongside local architect Jim Burns of Robert Burns Design Associates, the project involved extensive upgrades to an 18th‑century Grade II listed farmhouse and its adjoining cottage.

The farmhouse received a new extension designed to complement the existing building, complete with aluminium bi‑folding doors and stone copings. Internal layouts were reconfigured to improve flow and functionality, and the property underwent a full renovation of its roofs, including the installation of new chimney pots. External walls were re‑pointed in lime‑based mortar to maintain breathability and preserve the historic masonry.

New hardwood timber windows and doors were installed throughout, enhancing both energy performance and the building’s traditional appearance. Internally, the farmhouse was completely refurbished with new floors, ceilings and walls, alongside upgraded plumbing, electrics and full redecoration.

In addition to the farmhouse works, CG Building & Restoration Ltd also replaced the roofs to the neighbouring rental cottages, ensuring consistency in quality and appearance across both properties.

This project showcases our expertise in Grade II listed building renovation, farmhouse extensions, lime mortar repointing, traditional timber window installation and full internal refurbishment across Malton and the wider North Yorkshire region.
