Farmhouse, Brawby

CG Building and Restoration Ltd was appointed as Main Contractor for a Private Client to carry out renovation and extension works to two neighbouring dwellings in the quaint village of Brawby, near Malton, North Yorkshire.

Working with local Architect Jim Burns of Robert Burns Design Associates works to the 18th Century Grade II listed farmhouse and cottage included; a new extension to the farmhouse, reconfiguration of internal layouts, full renovation of roofs including installation of new chimney pots, new pointing in a lime-based mortar to external walls, installation of new hardwood timber windows and doors, new plumbing and electrics, and re-decorations throughout.

Complete with aluminium bi-folding doors and stone copings, the new extension was built to match the existing house. The existing farmhouse was re-pointed in lime mortar and new timber windows and doors were installed throughout.  Internally the farmhouse was completely renovated with new floors, ceilings and walls.  We also replaced the roofs to the rental cottages next door.

Working with CG Building and Restoration throughout the redevelopment of our farm complex near Malton was without question an absolute pleasure.  Developments such as ours could potentially be a massive headache trying to coordinate all parties involved (especially when we were living nearly 200 miles away), but working with Vernon and his team (with a particular mention for Sean) it was an extremely enjoyable experience seeing our family home becoming a reality. Vernon’s Team’s attention to detail was excellent and when working with a listed property such as ours making sure the various elements of the build tied in together was a skill in itself.  We are indebted to the CG Building and Restoration team and would wholeheartedly recommend them for any future work.  It’s five stars from the Hope family!
