CG Building & Restoration Ltd was appointed by Malton Town Council to carry out repair, refurbishment and facility upgrades to two Grade II listed cemetery chapels within the town’s main cemetery. Malton Cemetery Chapel comprises the East Chapel and the Chapel of Rest, connected by a stone link and bellcote. The project required sensitive conservation work, structural repairs and modern upgrades while preserving the historic character of the buildings.
Works included both external and internal alterations, the installation of a kitchenette and an accessible WC with foul drainage connection, and several structural repairs including underpinning. A wide range of internal and external refurbishment works were completed to the existing stone‑built structures, ensuring long‑term stability and improved usability for visitors and staff.
Plastic rainwater goods were removed and replaced with cast aluminium to enhance durability and maintain the heritage appearance. Security gates to the timber doors were removed, and the existing concrete paving was taken up and replaced with a gravel perimeter to improve drainage and visual appeal.
This project demonstrates our expertise in Grade II listed building repair, chapel refurbishment, structural stabilisation, drainage upgrades and heritage‑appropriate material replacement across Malton and the wider North Yorkshire region.
