Pickering Bridge sits elegantly in the Hovingham Estate in the village of Hovingham, North Yorkshire.
We dismantled the right-hand side stone balustrade which had been knocked over by cattle. Upon inspection it was found that 75% of the balusters which had been made with reinforced concrete at some stage in its life and were badly eroded and damaged. These were replaced with new stone balusters together with approx. 25% of the base rail and balustrade which were damaged and replaced with new moulded sections.
The full length of stone balustrade was reconstructed to its former glory using the new stone and retained sections, including the raking end sections.
