Longlisted for House of the Year in the RIBA Awards 2016.

The project known as ‘The Shadow House’, located in Fishergate, York, won first prize in the category for Small Residential Project. Carter Grice would like to extend their congratulations to Ruth Donnelly, from Doma Architects and also to our Clients.

The Shadow House which involved a part 2 storey and part single storey contemporary extension to a traditional end Edwardian terrace property was designed to shadow the existing house rather than just blend in. As you can see from the image above It does exactly that.

Carter Grice wins RIBA awards 2016 featuring Design York Awards logoUsing dark grey composite sheet external cladding and a ‘green roof’, the alterations and extension to the property provide significant additional family, utility and home office space to the existing ground floor and 2 bedrooms on the first floor. With extensive bathroom alterations we have managed to create a large family house.
